Lion Chambers, Glasgow

Glasgow City

Lion Chambers - 172 Hope Street, is a derelict, category A listed building in the heart of Glasgow.

It is deemed to hold particular significance due to being commissioned by a well-known member of Glasgow Art School. It is Glasgow style Art Nouveau, and is an 8 storey commercial building with shop at ground floor, 3 irregular bays to Hope Street with canted corner and 3 shallow canted return to Bath Lane. It has reinforced concrete throughout.

Businesses continue to use the street level premises with other parties owning floors 2, 4 and 6.  Floors 1, 3, 5 and 7 remain ownerless as a result of various dissolved companies, and the OPTS process is being explored by the KLTR to identify potential interest.

The KLTR would encourage anyone with a potential ownership interest to contact Glasgow City Council or the OPTS Casework Team here opts@kltr.gov.uk.
